Welcome to Money Magnets Club’s Back to School newsletter to update you and to keep you informed of ways to experience our programs and get involved in our work!

Our mission is to “serve as a community that encourages entrepreneurship and financial literacy among elementary school kids and their responsible adults through education, exposure, and resources,” and we do that to help kids and families build generational wealth. Check out what we’ve been up to this busy summer season…

Our programming coordinator, Mackenzie, plays Sense2Cents financial literacy board game with a young resident of the community at a Back to School event put on by the LendingTree foundation.

Our Executive Director, Alexandra met with Author Kimberly Wilson, and learned about her book series, following the characters Penny and Dollar, and their learning adventures being money! We’re delighted to have had the opportunitiy thanks to a great community connector, Cari Berger of Towne Bank.

We’re excited to share that we are offering print materials in Spanish. While this milestone has a ways to go to be able to fully serve Spanish-speaking kidpreneurs-in-training, we’re thankful to our partners at Circle de Luz for helping us take this important first step!

Join us to support our next event with the Stratford Richardson YMCA in the West Blvd. corridor on August 26th. We’re looking to gather supplies for 100 backpacks to give away and for 10 volunteers to help with the event.

Meet our latest Money Magnets Club Kidpreneurs-in-Training that have completed our program through our partnership with KEFA Academy (a program of the Save our Children Movement)! From left to right, Prince wants to have a gaming station where individuals pay a small fee to play all kinds of games. Rylee is a fashionista a wants to buy nice fabrics for the clothes she want to get made. Kinsey wants to start making lip gloss and slime to sell, and Emanual wants to own a rental car business, and also like to make music beats.

Each of them received a $25 investment!

Meet Kinston…he is a young teenager that has several vending machines that he maintains for customers to use in locations around Charlotte with his company called KD Vending.

Calling all volunteers! Money Magnets Club is seeking additional board members and skill-based volunteers for the 2023-2024 season. For our Board of Directors there is a maximum monthly time commitment of 5 hours per month, a minimum donation requirement, and the opportunity to make lifetimes of impact!

For volunteers, if you have media/communications expertise, project and strategic management, or curriculum/instruction background, we want to work with you. Want to learn more? Reach out today.
